Dogs
1. Advertisements recommend products such as Rimadyl and Matacam for joint disorders (such as arthrosis and HD), these are approved medicines. So why should I choose amiQure joint formula?
Rimadyl and Metacam both belong to the group of NSAID’s, which are strong, non-steroidal painkillers; both are often prescribed by vets to relieve pain from joint ailments;
The reason that many people prefer to use something other than strong painkillers is related to the possible side-effects, such as: lack of appetite, vomiting, increased production of urine, eye infections, behavioural problems, listlessness, reduced immune function, skin conditions and in some cases even the death of the dog;
In this respect amiQure-Flexible Joints is much kinder to the animal, many people have commented that after switching to amiQure the dog not only moves better, but is more vigorous and energetic too;
The difference lies in the fact that amiQure not only reduces the pain and inflammation, but it also builds cartilage and synovial fluid (around the joints), so that joint problems are treated in a structural manner.
2. What distinguishes the amiQure joint formula from other natural joint products?
Apart from the possible differences in quality (amiQure uses ingredients that are also used in human supplements), there are several other areas in which amiQure distinguishes itself:
None of the other products has the same combination as amiQure: salix (or Boswellia) for pain, harpagophytum against inflammation and Glucosamine for the regeneration of cartilage and the production of synovial fluid to lubricate the joints;
The amounts are wholly in accordance with scientific studies and are not ‘cosmetic’ amounts.
3. Are there any side-effects to be expected from the long-term use of amiQure products or in the case of an overdose?
In theory there will be no side-effects, although some dogs may be allergic to aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) that occurs in its natural form (salicylic acid) in the plant extract Salix alba, luckily this only affects a small number of dogs. As a safety precaution do not give to pregnant or nursing bitches.
4. In a lot of premium foods (particularly those for older dogs) there are ingredients such as glucosamine, chondroitin, omega-3 or other special ingredients. Why should a dog still need amiQure’s joint formula?
* Certain brands of premium food do contain some of these ingredients, but in cases where there is a serious problem, the quantities in the food are insufficient;
* Furthermore, not all supplements can be incorporated into the dog food, either because they would be destroyed by the heat of the production process or simply because they are too expensive.
5. Is amiQure-Stress formula habit forming?
No, there is no danger of habituation or dependence.
Cats
1. The cat will not eat the paste, what can I do?
Because of the high levels of active ingredients the taste is not always optimal. the paste is not intended as a snack, but to treat a health problem. See Tips.
2. What is the difference between calcium oxalate stones and struvite stones?
The most common type are struvite stones, although these are on the decline and calcium oxalate stones are on the increase. Illustrations in the introduction show the difference between the two types. More importantly the formation of struvite crystals is reduced if urine is acid (PH between 5.9 and 6.3). For oxalate crystals a more alkaline urine (PH between 6.4 and 6.8) is required to combat their formation.
3. If the cat is prone to bladder stones is amiQure-Urinary Tract paste sufficient, or should special food be given as well?
That is difficult to determine because some cats are more susceptible than others. In view the high levels of active ingredients, the paste alone should be enough. If it does not seem to be enough, the dosage of the paste can be increased or a special diet can be given as well. It is always wise to consult your vet in these cases.
